Are eBikes available for men and women?
Yes, we have men’s and ladies versions available to hire.
Do I have to pedal?
Yes, the electric assistance starts when you pedal, leaving little work for you to do.
Does the electric cycle have different levels of assistance?
The electric bikes have four different levels of assistance: eco, tour, sport and turbo, with eco having the least and sport having the most. You also have the option to turn the electric assist off and use it as a conventional cycle.
What do I need when collecting the eBikes ?
You’ll need to take along a valid photo ID such as driving licence or passport.
How do I pay for the hire ?
Currently we accept cash, cheque or bank transfer.
Does the booking include a Helmet?
Yes it does, but both helmet and bike need to be returned to the HDDT office on completion of the booking. You also get a lock to keep your bike secure while you are out and about.
How does it work?
The electric power is provided by a battery which is stored on the bike.
How do you charge it?
You will be provided with a battery charger when hiring your bike for long hires. The batteries are charged through mains power sockets.
How long does the battery take to charge?
The battery takes about 4 hours to charge.
How far can I cycle with a charged battery?
The distance varies from 18 miles (30km) to 50 miles (80km) depending on the conditions such as wind resistance and hill climbs. The battery also runs out quicker depending on what mode you have it in, ie. eco, normal or sport.
Are the bikes noisy?
No, the electric battery on the bike does not make any noise.
Can I use an electric cycle in the rain?
Yes, the bikes can be used in all weather conditions.
