A proposal by Huntly Development Trust to install a community wind turbine on the edge of an existing local wind farm has been unveiled. HDT plans to add a single 1.5MW turbine to the seven turbine Dummuies wind farm south east of Huntly to a create a community-owned visual extension. The revenue generated by the turbine will be invested in community projects. Consultation on the investment plan will take place before the turbine is commissioned. Final preparations are being made to the Environmental Statement which must accompany the planning application. HDT aims to submit the application in the first quarter of 2013. The project is being undertaken as part of HDT’s partnership with Grampian Housing Association.
